1-2 hours per week. Students will have weekly paragraph responses (optional) that they can submit between classes. Each paragraph response will be based on the discussion and readings from the previous class.Assessment
Informative writing assignments will be offered between each class. Each assignment will be a paragraph response about what they read that week. I will give individualized feedback.Class Experience

Beginner - Advanced Level
Welcome to the exciting journey of Louis Sachar's "Holes" and Katherine Paterson's "Bridge to Terabithia." Through engaging discussions and activities, students will explore the themes, symbolism, conflicts, resolutions, characters, and settings of these two incredible novels. Students will be challenged as they analyze each chapter of the novel and participate in discussions and activities. We will be digging deep in the text with our analysis and discussions so participation is key! Students will have assigned weekly readings that they will complete before each class. There will be optional writing assignments between classes and students will receive individualized feedback upon submission. I will use a variety of tools to engage students. These include graphic organizers, discussions, slideshows, games, humor, and quick writes. *please read chapters 1-3 of Bridge to Terabithia before the first class

Chapters 1-3: Characters and Setting
- Introduction to the novel and its historical context / setting

Chapters 4-5: Friendship
- We will explore the growing friendship between Jesse and Leslie and how their imagination develops 40 mins online live lesson
Lesson 3:
Chapters 6-8: Conflict and Resolution
- We will explore the various conflicts arising, character struggles, and how characters respond to conflicts 40 mins online live lesson
Lesson 4:
Chapters 9-11: Themes and Symbolism
