Class Experience

MY GOAL was to create a space shed young girls could explore books in a way that was personal, fun, and engaging, a place where reading wasn't just about turning pages but about living a story. The idea was to integrate hobbies, activities, and creative experiences into traditional book club formats, making each club a unique adventure that felt like a personal journey. But we go one step further. We encorporate growth mindset so our girls become strong successful people.

THE BOOK BABE CLUBS were deficient designed around themes, where each club would focus on a hobby or interest ( nails, makeup, sewing, crocheting, horses, etc.) Alongside the book. This allowed the girls to connect deeper with themes of the book they read, expanding beyond just reading to real-world, hands-on activities and creative expression. These clubs empoweryoung readers to not only dive deep into the world of thier favorite books, but also explore new hobbies, develop new skills, and express themselves in creative, hands-on ways.

WELCOME TO the captivating and empowering cooking, reading, and Self-Expression class! Join us on an exciting journey where we explore the world of literature through the story of " Anne of Green Gables", develop a growth mindset, and unleash our creativity through baking.

In this unique club, we'll dive into captivating chapters, engaging in thought-provoking discussions while nurturing our love for reading. We'll embrace the power of a growth mindset, learning to overcome challenges and strive for personal growth as we discuss Anne of Green Gables while also baking to our hearts content. Additionally, we'll discover secrets in the kitchen, use cooking tools, strive for skills in self-expression, boosting confidence, and enhancing our cooking skills. Get ready to embark on an adventure where imagination, knowledge, and self-expression intertwine to empower you as a strong, creative, and confident individual.

THIS CLUB IS OFFERED 1x a week for 20 weeks. This means students will read chapters before each class. Students who miss some classes will still be able to join the class because reviews will be given for students who need to catch-up in each class. Go ahead and sign up today! You don't want to miss what each class provides. All baking activities are new each week. Baking techniques and strategies change each week. Growth Mindset focus also changes weekly. Students will discuss chapters in our novel as we dabble with new recipes. We also develop growth mindset.

We will analyse characters, explore settings, and go on adventures through differing activities throughout this course.
Each chapter and lesson taught in this class increases growth mindset, reflects on readings, and adds knowledge and understanding to baking skills and techniques.

An outline for the class combining the "Anne of Green Gables" book club and baking club is in the syllabus. Each class will review a few chapters, focusing on a growth mindset theme and a corresponding baking theme.

Throughout each class, time is allocated for book discussions, exploring growth mindset concepts, and videos of baking demonstrations or hands-on activities related to the themes. Open discussions are encouraged and provide opportunities for students to express their thoughts, ideas, and creative interpretations inspired by the book and baking.

THIS CLUB IS STRUCTURED like a bookclub. Students will be given a reading assignment and a video to watch. We will meet during class time to discuss major points that we have learned. Students will have the opportunity to apply new skills outside of class, in real life. Students will make new connections with other students who have similar interest.

I AM VERY INTERACTIVE in my teaching and discussion. Students will have the opportunity to talk with me anytime throughout the course or after in the message. My office hours are monday- Thursday and I will get back to you quickly.

Hello, I am Velvet Mumma ( pronounced Mum- ah)

ABOUT ME: As a teacher I believe that we should provide students with the skills and opportunity to learn and grow. I think that students are more apt to care what you know, when they know that you care and I hope that I live that philosophy out in my classroom. I am excited about teaching and passionate to guide students learning.

Personally, I absolutely love reading. There is a book by Dr Suess that really does so much more than entertain. It is called " Oh, the Places You Will Go." This book truly sets people of all ages up for success! While there are many quotes I could pull from this fabulous writing, my favorite is “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.” - This quote emphasizes the idea of self-direction and the ability to choose your own path. I hope my guidance leads others to develop the confidence to choose the right path for them.

WHAT MAKES ME QUALIFIED: I am an experienced teacher in the classroom setting. I have experience online as well. I started teaching virtually with my local school district about 4 years ago, in the Southern USA. Now, I'm teaching virtually on outschool, to students all over the world.

I currently teach middle school classes as well as upper elementary classes. My classes are centered on English Language Arts and ESL. I teach ELA Homeschool, Writing, Grammar, Spelling, Reading, Speaking, Vocabulary, Poetry, Literature, English as a Second Language, and more.

I have multiple degrees in Education. I am completing my certification as a registered IEW Writing Instructor. I am also certified in TOSEL and TEFL as an ESL Instructor. As you can probably see, Im a firm believer in continued education practices.

I have been cooking for over 4 decades. I have entered contest and won with my baking.
