What is a noun? In this engaging class, students will participate in activities to learn what a noun is. Students will learn that a noun is a word that names people, animals, places, and things. Required experience: Students will be reading words to tell if they are nouns or not. If students are not able to read the words on their own, an adult will need to help during the lesson. Class flow: 1. Introduction 2. Students will learn what a noun is. Using an anchor chart, we will work together to sort words based on if they are a noun or not. 3. Students will sort words on their own with the help of their peers as needed. 4. Students will discuss why their sorted words are nouns. 5. Students will practice using the nouns in a sentence. 6. Goodbye

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, my name is Teacher Janae. I live and work in Great Bend, Kansas, as a first-grade teacher. I have been teaching first grade for ten years! I currently hold a Bachelor's Degree in Education with an emphasis in ESOL and an emphasis in Special Education. My Master's Degree is in Education with a focus in ESOL.
The classes I will teach will be based on Common Core math and reading for first grade. Since I have been a first-grade teacher for the past ten years, I have a lot of knowledge with these standards. I plan on making my classes fun, engaging, and interactive.
