In this class, students will use the most basic drawing techniques to help them come to the realization that mistakes can lead them to opportunities for creativity. As an art teacher for 17 years, I use proven brainstorming and problem solving technique to demonstrate that nothing has to be perfect. Many students have difficulty moving forward when they make mistakes. In this class, students use permanent markers to create simple drawings. By taking away the students ability to start over or erase, students learn to move forward, hurdling their mistakes and use their blossoming problem solving skills to find new answers. Students will share their results at the end of class.

Hello! My name is Patti Barber and I have been an art teacher in Marlton, New Jersey since 2004 and an English as a Second Language teacher since 2017. When it comes to art, my number one rule in my classroom is the nothing has to be perfect. I show my students how to transform their so called "mistakes" into beautiful and creative masterpieces. I feel it is my job to encourage and to foster the confidence so all children feel like artists. In 2017 I joined VIPKID teaching English to children in China over the internet. I love teaching over the internet and I look forward to connecting with my students across the globe each day. I make learning English fun while still correcting pronunciation. I am encouraging and patient with my ESL learners so they will feel confident to speak. I enjoy reading (weekly trips to the public library is a must in my house), traveling with my family (our current quest is to see all 50 states - currently visited 28/50) and sharing my love of history with my kids (touring historical houses is a must on all our trips).
