Class Experience

For these 4 weeks, we will learn about topics that interest the group as they relate to the 50 United States.

1) We will begin class with an interactive memory game in which we learn things about each other's interests and experiences.
2) Next, I will introduce something fun about our theme. We may explore art, agriculture, animals, landmarks, populations, businesses, history, famous individuals, music, or more from the various states.
3) Then, we will play a word association or language game.
4) We will continue by interacting with a thematic song and exploring movement in some way.
5) In response to the vibe of the group, I'll continue with more sharing, language, and/or movement activities on the theme.
6) We will conclude class by each sharing something we learned or enjoyed during our class session.

Participants will be supported in offering their own ideas with extra prompts as needed in a patient and supportive environment. Advanced students will be challenged to offer their own associations of words or ideas, while shy beginners will be assisted in answering with extra prompts of images and movement.

We'll practice recalling, describing, comparing, and sharing with a daily goal of treasuring each chance to learn together.
Learning Goals
1)	Each student will feel valued as a part of the community, even if they only participate in that week's meetings.
2)	Each student will learn something new and useful in every meeting, whether it is vocabulary, spelling, movement, or a historic or scientific fact.
3)	Each student will practice skills for interaction: speaking clearly, being heard, expressing themselves confidently, taking turns, acknowledging each other, and balancing focus and fun.

Supply List
I will modify and accommodate as needed, but students may enjoy having a few feet of space to safely move and dance. Ideally, they will be able to get a little distance from the camera so their body can be seen for movement games as much as they'd like. If a student is at all reluctant verbally and may prefer sometimes writing or drawing responses, that is welcome too. They can do that via a paper and crayons or tablet or other means that you suggest. This class will be very interactive, and hopefully will engage students thoroughly enough that you will not have to monitor every moment of the learner's experience (though you are always welcome to watch, of course).

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have spent the last two years teaching elementary aged learners via the internet. I have worked creatively with very young children on musicals such as "Schoolhouse Rock, Live," "The King and I," "Oliver," and "Annie." I love customizing creative movement and language games to student abilities. I specialize in creating environments in which students feel safe to express themselves and enjoy each others' unique thoughts and perspectives.
