Students will compare/contrast fiction and nonfiction by participating in a discussion Students will review note-taking strategies by watching instructor model different methods (highlighting, labeling) Students will improve their reading comprehension skills by answering questions and participating in discussions. Students will gain knowledge of new vocabulary words by completing a graphic organizer and participating in discussions.

Homework Offered
*Students will complete a Blooket quiz for homework *Students may have to finish defining vocabulary or answering reading questions depending on the class.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Blooket quizzes will be assigned each week based on the nonfiction text that was read in class. Students will complete these quizzes for homework. If a learner scores below a 70%, the instructor will reach out to parents/guardians. Quizzes are not mandatory, but they inform the instructor and family.Grades Offered

The instructor will provide Word Document versions of the informational texts. Students may print or view the materials electronically. *Students should come to class with teacher provided materials, a highlighter, and a pen/pencil.
