Class Experience

In our three-day camp together, we’ll look into the world of unique bird features. Birds are the only living creature with feathers, so we’ll examine the details of them. During this camp, learners will investigate and discuss what feathers are made of, what they are used for, and the various kinds of feathers.

Learners will discover the different types of wings and how birds use those wings in flight. There will be a slideshow presentation to highlight those features too. As an engaging activity, each learner will have an opportunity to create a bird with wings and unique tail feathers.

Day 1: Investigating feathers
Day 2: Examining wings and creating your own
Day 3: Discussing and creating unique tail feathers

Learners will gain a strong knowledge base on birds feathers, types of wings, and how their wings are used in flight.

This three-day camp is open to all learners; no prior knowledge is needed to join. This camp will be a fantastic way to learn about bird’s feathers, and wings and have fun doing it.

Welcome!

It continues to be a privilege to teach on Outschool, and a joy to be able to reach learners around the world. I’m Shelmika or Mrs. Seashell, and I am just as excited to be teaching today on Outschool as I was a year ago.

I was a Homeschool parent of three, but all three of my children have graduated as of May 2023, and now attend different universities across the US. As I enjoyed the daily experience of teaching my children, I also had the opportunity to volunteer as a pre-school teacher. Additionally, at a local school district, I worked as a Social Service Advocate, supporting learners outside the classroom. I have a Bachelor’s of Science degree, and have completed some graduate education coursework as well.

As a teacher, I especially enjoy exploring the world around us through nature studies. Therefore, my Outschool library of classes will mainly include Science/Nature classes. During each class, I enjoy participation from all learners, so discussion is encouraged, and I endeavor to create a safe and relaxed environment with engaging material that will boost a learner’s interest, and thereby their love of learning.

I’m excited to guide your learner on their knowledge quest, and I hope to see them soon on Zoom!

Please contact me if you have any questions or comments. Thank you.
