Nature Shapes Mini Art Course: Learn to Draw with Leaves

Did you know that shape appears in artwork everywhere? We'll be exploring shapes--but not just boring circles and squares. We'll be learning the different types, how to draw them, and how to use them as we draw leaves.

Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
Beginner Level
🎨 Who knew there's such an amazing world of shapes right under our noses?
This course is ideal for 3rd-7th graders.

🍃 We'll dive deep into the traditional element of shape, and then mix it with a plant topic--shapes of leaves.

🍁 In this mini nature art course, your learner will learn all about plants through art. Using easy-to-access materials, learners create drawings and projects that reflect the plant-topic of the week.

{Class Schedule}
Week 1: Two videos/projects teaching your child about the element of shape, how to spot it, and how to draw with it.
Week 2: Two videos/projects discovering the shapes of leaves all around us in nature--while also learning to sketch with basic shapes.
Week 3: Scavenger hunt video where your child can go outside (or visit a local grocery store if it's too cold out) and gather shapes of leaves for the final project. The 2nd video combines everything your student has learned into one final project.

{Changing the schedule}
Does this schedule not align with your homeschool? No worries! Save the links you receive each week and spread them out over a whole year of school.

{How it works}
In this class, you get 2 video art lessons per week. That totals to 5 ART VIDEO LESSONS and 1 NATURE SCAVENGER HUNT!
I've set up this mini-course to be done within 3 weeks. However, there is SO much content in here that it could easily be spread out into 1-2 months.

{Extra info}
-Younger learners (6-8) are allowed to take this class. However, if your learner does not have a strong drawing hand yet, I would encourage you to be ready to assist or to pair them with an older sibling.
-Optional: You can place all the finished drawings and projects into a 3-ring binder (I did!). They're all vertical so it works nicely. This also creates a great resource for future reference.

Want more? This is a full nature art course that can be sped-up to fit one semester, or stretched to fit a full year of art.
