Assessment
During the weeks of this class, the student will independently work on their final project and post in the classroom during the last week of class. The student can do anything for their final project to summarize the book that they read. Here are some suggestions for their final project: 1. Complete a Minecraft or Lego block build to post in class to reinforce their reading comprehension. The student could create a build that reflects on their reading (example: Rocky Mountain National Park habitat/biome). The student is welcome to use any Minecraft platform they have access to and will be building their Minecraft build on their own. 2. Per the book, "I believe all 62 are in there." Can you locate all 62 National Parks on a map? List the name of each National Park and the state that they are in. 3. Game that reflects the book. 4. Drawings that reflect on the student's reading (example: pictures from the scrapbook). 5. Try to make a topographical map as described in the book of where you live and the surrounding area. Do not list names such as towns/cities, etc. You can just state "store," "mountain," "river," etc. NO information that would be telling of the student's location of where they live to ensure the student's safety. 6. Write a letter to a family member or friend using Morse code. Include in your letter five new facts from your reading. 7. Your choice on your final project as long as it reflects your reading of the book.

Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
The student will be reading the book, "National Park Mystery Series: Mystery in Rocky Mountain National Park" by Aaron Johnson. There are 24 chapters and author's notes in the book. During week 6, the student presents their final project which represents their reading comprehension of the book.

I will post discussion questions two to five days a week. Some of the questions will include thoughtful information from the book. Examples of some questions in the classroom could be "what does the definition of (a particular word) mean and have you ever done this?" or "which aspect of the book most caught your eye - discuss why this was." The students will be able to discuss in classroom about the many fun facts learned from the book to reinforce their reading and understanding.

Through the classroom's image posting option, the student will be able to show images of what they created for their final project. The student can use the option of uploading a short video if they are on a computer or a screenshot of their final project can be taken and uploaded to the device being used to sign in for this class.
Learning Goals
The student will be showing comprehension of their reading of the book by answering discussion questions. The student will expand their creativity as shown by their final project.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I teach unit studies, gameschooling, and life skills. I have extensive knowledge on how to work with special needs or special "abilities" persons who learn outside of the box due to my own life journey and the adventure of parenting special abilities' children.

My professional background is in social work since 1982. I have worked as a preschool teacher. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with specialties in mental health, substance abuse, and geriatrics. I have worked with ages 2-101 years old. I have homeschooled since 2002.

I value each person's individuality. I love to help others find their strengths and support. My teaching is eclectic, just like each person is. The definition of eclectic is "selecting or made up of what seems best of varied sources." The.key word in that definition is "best." I want to bring out the "best" in each student.

While homeschooling my children, I found "gameschooling." Gameschooling is the joy of using games to reinforce educational subjects. I absolutely love playing board games, card games and dice games. I have over 300 games in my home and growing.
