US Grade 2 - 5
This class will meet once per week for ten weeks. Each week we will cover a different book from the Nathan Hale's Hazardous Tales series. In class we will discuss our favorite parts of the book, as well as the history behind the story. This class will be geared towards students who have recently completed the weekly text and are interested in obtaining additional historical knowledge regarding the topics discussed in the popular graphic novel series. The book schedule will be as follows. Week 1: One Dead Spy Week 2: Big Bad Ironclad! Week 3: Donner Dinner Party Week 4: Treaties, Trenches, Mud, and Blood Week 5: The Underground Abductor Week 6: Alamo All-Stars Week 7: Raid of No Return Week 8: Lafayette! Week 9: Major Impossible Week 10: Blades of Freedom Students are encouraged to read the weekly book prior to attending class. This class is a multi-day course, so students will be enrolled for the full ten-week course upon payment. Each week will be a stand along lesson regarding the weekly book. The lesson will be presented with the aid of a powerpoint, lecture, and student discussion. The main events of the texts will be placed into proper historical context with background information provided and the effects of each event discussed as well. The class is meant to give learners a deeper understanding of the information presented to them in the text, while also providing a social outlet for students with similar interests to connect.

Parental Guidance
The class will look at topics of war and conflict including the execution of spies in the Revolutionary Period, casualties of war, and a discussion will be held regarding development and operation of the Underground Railroad in Week 5.
All discussions of war and other historical topics will be rooted in historical context and presented in an appropriately objective manner. The instructor is employed at a military history museum and regularly discusses war and conflict with students of all ages, K through 12 in an age appropriate manner. Additionally, the instructor has a BA in History.
