This class will meet once per week for ten weeks. Each week we will cover a different book from the Nathan Hale's Hazardous Tales series. In class we will discuss our favorite parts of the book, as well as the history behind the story. I am a museum professional with experience presenting the difficult topics of war and its consequences to children of all ages. In addition to my professional work, I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Grand Valley State University in Michigan.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
The class will look at topics of war and conflict including the execution of spies in the Revolutionary Period, casualties of war, and a discussion will be held regarding development and operation of the Underground Railroad in Week 5. All discussions of war and other historical topics will be rooted in historical context and presented in an appropriately objective manner. The instructor is employed at a military history museum and regularly discusses war and conflict with students of all ages, K through 12 in an age appropriate manner. Additionally, the instructor has a BA in History.
