This Nancy Clancy book is great for all girls that love to read. It has a little bit of fancy, and a little bit of mystery. This class will be held 3 days within 1 week. It's meant to be read fast (less than 1 week between day 1 and day 3). Every day before class, students will be expected to read certain chapters. The schedule goes as followed: Day 1: Have chapters 1-4 read before class. Bring your own 'Memento' to class. In Chapter 3 and 4 of the book it talks about Nancy bringing a memento to her school class. We will have a show and tell during class. Be prepared to show something that is personal to the class and share about why it is important to you. Day 2: Have chapters 5-8 read before class Discussion day. We will talk about what has happened in the book thus far. We will talk about what we like, or possibly don't like, about the book. We will make predictions to the book's ending. We will also talk about other discussion topics, depending how where the discussion goes during class. Day 3: Have chapters 9-13 read before class We will begin class with how we liked the ending of the book. We will then have a trivia game to see who remembers the most about the book.
Learning Goals
Students will work on the following areas during the class: reading, comprehension, and communication/presentation skills.

Hello!! My name is Amanda. (My students can call me Amanda, or Teacher, or Teacher Amanda. Whatever they prefer). I am so excited to teach your child! I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Family, Consumer, and Human Development, and a Master of Education Degree in Psychology. I worked about 2 years in the counseling office in schools(helping students aged 12-18), but now I stay home with my 2 kids. I also spent 2 years teaching Chinese Children English online, ages 5-14.
Working with the school counselors, my favorite thing to talk to students about is their futures and planning what post high school holds for them. I want to include classes that will help students with this and give them resources to use.
I am also a book junky, especially YA readers. I'm planning on adding more book club and trivia classes to go with different books as I read more.
My teaching style is usually pretty calm, relaxed, and chill. I love to joke around and have fun with my students.
My favorite thing to do is go on adventures with my husband and kids. We especially love spending time in the mountains. I also love reading, going on long walks, and taking bubble baths.
I am looking forward to seeing your student in my classroom!!
