Readers who love the My Weird School series love the Fast Facts by Dan Gutman! This book club is a Non-Fiction Book Club based on Dan Gutman's popular series My Weird School Fast Facts. My expectation is that learners will read the chapters before class by themselves or with their families. We can then jump right into discussion about what we found out, sharing things we found funny and doing some activities around the subject! Week of: March 20 Space, Humans, and Farts: Beginning to the end of Chapter 7 March 27 Space, Humans, and Farts: Chapter 8 to the End April 3 Dogs, Cats, and Dung Beetles: Beginning to the end of Chapter 5 April 10 Dogs, Cats, and Dung Beetles: Chapter 6 to the End April 17 Pizza, Peanut Butter, and Pickles: Beginning to the end of Chapter 4 April 24 Pizza, Peanut Butter, and Pickles: Chapter 5 to the End Next section: May 1 Explorers, Presidents and Toilets May 8 Explorers, Presidents and Toilets May 15 Mummies, Myths and Mysteries May 22 Mummies, Myths and Mysteries May 29 Sports June 5 Sports This is a 6 week cycle that will be run again with the remaining books at the end of the run. Each book will be given 2 weeks time to be read as there are sometimes more than 10 chapters in each book. We will discuss what we've discovered, expand and relate to our own lives and understanding and depending on the intensity of discussion, we might just play some games! I will have our wordsearch and crossword for vocabulary capture uploaded into the classroom after class. Now let's learn some Weird Fast Facts together! PS: I've listed some resources below but we might not use them. I just wanted to make sure they were an option for the class. *Students will need to have the corresponding book for the week. This series My Weird School Fast Facts can be found at Scholastic, Used book stores, Kindle (that's where I have mine) and probably at your local library. Due to copyright laws, I won't be allowed to screen share the book's content. ESL CEFR Level B2-C2
