This class will examine the historical semi-fictional short stories, "My First Little House Books," over the course of six weeks. We will examine vocabulary and comprehension questions from each short book, but also dive into the world Laura Ingalls Wilder created with history and geography enrichment activities too. It must be noted that while this book is invaluable for his historical content and perspectives on Westward expansion of American history, some sensitive topics that will be addressed throughout the course including but not limited to: deer hunting and one-sided view of indigenous peoples of Texas. We will be noting and discussing these things during the conversation parts of the course. I have a M.A. in U.S. History with my thesis being on Native American studies. I believe in offering a multi-sided perspective in historical accounts.

Hello from Texas! Although I am currently residing in Texas, we move quite often and that has allowed me to have many different types of career experiences. I have tutored privately and through well-known organizations; taught in the public school classroom setting with a self-contained classroom; substituted and interned in private school classroom settings; instructed at the community college level; assisted with museum operations; and homeschooled my three munchkins. I have worked with early education all the way up to the community college level. I have a bachelor's of education and a master's of American History with a concentration in Native American studies.
