In my private vocal lessons we will work with your singer on building a strong foundation based on proper classical techniques of singing and acting to strengthen and learn how to sing and perform musical theater!

Class Experience

This class is geared specifically towards students who already have shown interest in singing in some way and are interested in singing songs from Broadway and Disney musicals.  (formal training isn't required!).   This class will have a specific focus on musical theater singing so there will be a focus on acting exercises and warm ups as well.   

In my class we will:
*We will do basic vocal and acting warmups and core exercises to strengthen our voice and sing properly to sing to the best of our ability! 
*We will work on determining what your student's voice part is (alto, soprano, tenor, bass)
*We will work on a song from musical theater or a Disney musical that your student wants to learn!  Parents can message me before class with the song selection(s) and I will supply the sheet music for the number that we will work on.  If there is no preference of a song, we will select during class from my list of appropriate introductory musical theater songs for our age group.
*We will determine strengths and weaknesses in your singer's voice and come up with a specific plan to work on correcting bad habits and incorrect singing methods to be the strongest and most confident singer we can be!

Learning how to act and sing a song requires a lot of work and is a lot of fun!  I cannot wait to share my love of musical theater singing and techniques with you!

I am neurodiverse and am very comfortable teaching children with autism and ADHD and other differently abled thinkers and learners!  I love to be able to share my love of music and singing with people of all skill levels and learning abilities.  Let me know ahead of class if there is anything I should know about your student and we will make a special lesson plan if needed!

Learning Goals

Students in my class will learn:
*Proper breathing techniques and posture for singing in all forms
*Vocal warmups and acting warmups for musical theater singers
*Special techniques we need when singing and acting at the same time in a theater performance
* How to tell a story through our song in a musical theater number by connecting our lyrics, vocals, and acting

Other Details

Parental Guidance

Any songs sung will be selected by myself with a student's feedback, I will not teach any songs from musicals that are inappropriate for the age group and if there is any question I will contact the parent prior to learning any material! If there are any restrictions of content of Broadway musicals or topics in them that are off limits in any way just let me know beforehand and we will absolutely work around it!

Hello!

I'm Ms. Laura!  I am a mom of 3 fun little ones and a classically trained singer and dancer who loves Broadway musicals with all of her heart!  I have a degree in Arts Management and Vocal Performance and always love sharing my passion and excitement of being on stage with others!  I started the first online musical theater group on the most popular karaoke app in the world, Smule, and I have organized many fun and exciting numbers and met wonderful singers and friends from across the world with the performances we have created together!  I love kids and creating projects together and finding ways to connect with our little ones to bring out their musical and artistic passions and to learn to be themselves and express themselves through music, dance, and acting!

I have been involved in many and various aspects of theater and dance and visual art from backstage to performance to the business management of what goes into creating a show from the start and am very passionate about others finding their own artistic outlets in all forms!

I have three kiddos, ages 6,8, and 1 and teach private voice lessons online and am excited to start teaching on outschool and teaching little musical theater and music lovers to be creative and follow their hearts and find a passion for the arts!  I am very proud to be neurodiverse and have children who are as well (ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder) and would love to connect with learners of all types who have a passion for music and the arts!

I will be offering a variety of musical theater, dance, and vocal classes and would love to inspire our little ones to be creative and enjoy the wonderful world of the theater and spread the joy it has brought to my life!
