Class experience
Welcome! This musical theater conservatory experience is intended for those students who are serious about refining their skills as a musical theater performing artist. This course is kept private and only available to those select students I see great work ethic, talent and potential for a theatrical career. Invitations to my private Conservatory sections are highly competitive. Students are chosen and invited from public sections of other musical theater courses I offer. The qualities I...
In this first semester, students will gain a foundational understanding of the following subjects: Intro to Acting Voice Technique Intro to Musical Theater Dance Intro to Tap Broadway Choreography Ear Training Sight Singing Harmony Audition Prep
Some days will consist of dancing and yoga. I am qualified to teach in both areas. In addition to those degrees and certifications, I also have 15 years of professional experience as a stage performer. I have performed all over the country and on Broadway. I attained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from the University of Florida. This program provided intensive dance training. I previously trained at various studios ever since I was a little girl. I am fully capable of leading a well rounded and safe dance class and will always do a thorough warm up to protect the students from injuries. I also received my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Certification from One Yoga in Kho Pha-ngan, Thailand. Yoga has always been a huge benefit to me as a performer, which is why I am excited to incorporate that knowledge into this theater intensive course.

A typical homework assignment will consist of: 1) Daily vocal warm up 2) Memorizing and preparing for mock auditions 3) Choreographing a dance 4) Scene work prep1 - 2 hours per week outside of class

A black, three ring binder to become the student’s audition book. This holds the sheet music for their "audition ready" songs. Make sure to purchase non glare sheet protectors. This does not need to be ready at the start of the course. It's intended for their personal readiness at upcoming auditions. They should also have a current resume and headshot (this does not need to be professionally taken).
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Please provide ample water for the student during each class as we will be dancing and singing a lot. They will need to stay hydrated! I also highly recommend they begin to hydrate one hour before each class, to start preparing the vocal chords for singing. Dance shoes are not required, but they are welcome if you have them! When we dance, all that is necessary is a small space, clear from clutter.
