Week 1Lesson 1Music CompositionPart 1 of a 2 part comprehensive delivered experience. Participate in an interdisciplinary challenge against your personal ability to learn and grow! Follow the criteria set for composing this challenge. Use the instructional videos to guide you as you make musical decisions. Once you have your composition done, move on to Lesson 2 to reflect on your practice.Lesson 2Reflective compositionPart 2 of a 2 part comprehensive delivered experience. Use the original music composition to reflect on your decisions by preparing a written or video essay. Reflective prompts are provided. The Gold-Silver-Bronze categories ask you to use a certain number of prompts in your response, and everything else in your reflection is open!
- Students will explore their personal responses to the following essential questions: 1. How do musicians make creative decisions? Produce a musical product and 2. How do musicians improve the quality of their creative work? Utilize and develop an understanding of the creative process. 3. When is a performance judged ready to present? Build confidence in creating and communicating musical experiences. 4. How do musicians make meaningful connections to creating, performing, and responding? Produce musical composition using standard notation. Produce a written or spoken response discussing the use of the creative process and language of music. 5. How do the other arts, other disciplines, contexts and daily life inform creating, performing, and responding to music? Produce a written or spoken response discussing the use of the creative process and language of music.

Frequency: includedFeedback: includedDetails: There are 2 assignments: music composition and reflective statement. There are student choice response levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Each response level details the criteria for evaluation and the teacher will grade against the student assessed level. This is a competition against oneself with feedback and awards being delivered 1-2 days after the learner submits.Assessment
Frequency: includedDetails: This challenge class offers a choice of learning leader assessment: bronze - silver - or - gold. Each level increases with difficulty, increased precision, expectations, quality/quantity, and/or depth of thought and engagement.Grading
Frequency: includedDetails: A certificate of completion is provided upon completion along with a written or video evaluation to the student. For meeting defined criteria, virtual achievement certificates will be awarded.
