In this ongoing course, students learn how to write melodies and harmonize them with a keyboard or piano!

This class will cover how to write your VERY OWN melody and harmony using notes in scales that we will learn together. Students will learn how to notate music on staff paper by hand as well as learn how to write with the online program "Noteflight." We will find out more each week about: basic rhythms melodic concepts and how to tell if a melody sounds good scales in major and minor that will help us develop melodies how to construct basic harmony using the I chord, IV chord, V chord and others Students will learn through instruction from me as well as from listening to the creations of the other students! Students are encouraged to play their pieces for each other and even post pictures of their writings to the class so others can perform their musical creations! This class will begin the final week in July and will remain ongoing as long as there are learners enrolled. I will open sections as necessary! I'm so excited to teach this class.
Learning Goals
Students will learn to write and read music and write basic melodies with chordal accompaniment.
