Class Experience

During our weekly class meetings, we will enjoy 25 minutes of music fun together!
Our schedule will flow in the following format:

*Meet and Greet with Singing
*Fun music theory with Action-Based Games
*Musical Show and Tell
*Sing Together
*Storytime
----
Our sample schedule is as follows:
Week 1: Dec. 11-15-Mozart and legato
Week 2: Dec. 18-Dec. 22-The violin and staccato
Week 3: Dec. 26-29-Loud and soft (forte and piano)
Week 4: Jan. 2-4- Fast and slow (allegro and andante)

---
I believe music for the young should be exploratory and fun.

In this action-packed and fast-paced music class, I will begin with a meet and greet, then follow up with an introduction to basic music theory concepts (such as legato or forte). We do this all through Orff-inspired games and songs.

I will have your kids up and moving! Sometimes we’ll hop like a frog or crouch like a tiger!

During our rhythm lab, I’ll introduce note values and we’ll use body percussion patterns to copy (tapping, clapping, stomping). On some days, we’ll have Musical Show and Tell, where students will be asked to bring any instruments they enjoy and take turns sharing with their classmates.

At every class meeting, we’ll have a children’s classical or folk song, storytime, and sometimes even a guest puppet!

-----
Learners will interact with me and with each other by participating in group discussions and games, and sharing with the class their favorite instruments. Students do not need any prior music knowledge in order to benefit from this class.
No additional supplies will be needed for class, except for the occasional household item (such as a scarf or a percussion item).
----
My teaching style is very interactive. I like to help children truly learn with their whole bodies and teach to all learning styles (kinesthetic, auditory, visual, linguistic, social, solitary, and logical). I use techniques such as call and response, singing, chants, flashcards, picture visuals, and video presentations. I am a caring teacher and strive to understand the various needs of my students.

I can't wait to see you in class and explore music together with you!
Learning Goals
In recap, during our time together I will help your student achieve the following concepts:

*know the structure of music (pitch, dynamics, rhythm)
*learn the language of music
*become more musically independent
*develop their creative and critical thinking skills
*be exposed to a variety of classical music, folk songs, and nursery rhymes
*have fun!
