US Grade 3 - 5
In this class, learners will master the technique of multiplying numbers using the standard algorithm. This course is designed for learners with dysgraphia, there is no requirement to write. All digits and symbols are able to be moved to the problem page using the "drag and drop" feature of Nearpod. This is a great class if your learner has difficulty writing numbers and is ready to learn multiplication with the standard algorithm. All questions in this class are wizard themed, some deal with potions, magical wands, and others have dragons. The class will be structured using Nearpod, which allows for an interactive and engaging learning experience. We’ll start with a demonstration where I model the process of using the standard algorithm for multiplication. This will be followed by guided practice, where learners will work through problems with my support. Finally, learners will have the chance to independently solve a problem to solidify their understanding. The class includes a combination of lecture, guided practice, and independent work, with ongoing support and feedback. Learners will participate in activities, answer questions, and engage in discussions to reinforce their learning. Please message me if you are interested in this class and would like a different time slot.

External Resources
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Teacher expertise and credentials
2 Degrees
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Brock University
Bachelor's Degree in Science from McMaster University
I have been teaching for over 24 years, with extensive experience in both traditional classroom settings and online environments. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Physics with a minor in Math, as well as a Bachelor of Education degree.
I am a certified teacher and qualified to teach grades 4 to 12. Throughout my career, I have taught math, physics, and chemistry to students in both public and independent schools. My journey as an educator began in university when I started tutoring, and I now specialize in online tutoring. I focus on making Math and Physics engaging, interactive, and educational for students in grades 4 to 12.
In my classes for grades 4-8 I like to use Nearpod to make the classes fun and interactive for younger learners. In grades 9-12 I use Classkick and Desmos which are both excellent interactive platforms suitable for intermediate and senior students.
My teaching philosophy is centered around the belief that education should be accessible, engaging, and empowering. I strive to foster a love for learning in my students by incorporating hands-on activities, interactive discussions, and real-life examples in my lessons. My classes follow a gradual release of responsibility model, beginning with direct teacher instruction, followed by guided practice, and culminating in individual practice. I believe in the power of curiosity and encourage my students to ask questions, explore new ideas, and think critically.
Outside of teaching, I am a mother of two children, aged 8 and 11. The insights and skills I've gained from parenting deeply inform my teaching approach, allowing me to connect with my students on a more personal level. I understand the importance of patience, empathy, and adaptability, and I strive to create a supportive and nurturing learning environment for all my students.
