Multiplication Mayhem!
In this class, we will explore how to use area models to solve multiplication problems. We will multiple 1 by 3 digit, 2 by 3 digit, and 3 by 3 digit numbers in our 30 minute class. Recommended prior knowledge of basic multiplication facts

Area model multiplication is one way to solve multi digit multiplication problems. Our area model multiplication class will include five 30 minute sessions where students will have. I will give students a Nearpod link so that they can actively participate in our class. Students will be able to use an area model to help them solve multi-digit multiplication problems. We will begin my mastering multiplying a 1 digit number by a two and three digit number. By the end of the week, students will be able to multiply a three digit number by 6 digit number using an area model strategy to multiply.

At the end of the class, students will have a short multiple choice problem to show what they learned. This can be done after class time and submitted through the Nearpod. This short assessment will help me plan for our upcoming lesson. It will help me determine if we need to review what was taught that day, or if we can move on to our next area model multiplication lesson.Grades Offered
This course offers hands on learning using Nearpod as a tool for teacher and student to use for engagement. Pacing is set using a timer to give students thinking time and time to work out problems.
