During this multiplication course, students will learn how to multiply multi-digit numbers using some of the most common multiplication methods aligned with the Common Core State Standards. In week one we will focus on using the box method to multiply. In week two we will use partial products to multiply and finally in week three we will use the standard algorithm. Structurally, my class will be majorly composed of teacher directed lessons, with outside independent practice! During the class period, students will interact with myself as well as other students in a gradual release of responsibility type setting, where I will guide the students into feeling more comfortable and confident with the material for the lesson, in hopes they can work up to becoming more independent. Prerequisites would be a comfortable understanding of multiplication facts and simple multiplication.
