55 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
This class focuses on learning or reviewing multiplication facts. As a class, we will go over the basics of multiplication and talk about the patterns you can find in these math problems. We will then play Jeopardy, a game that involves multiplication. The goal of this class is to help students build confidence in their ability to recite their multiplication facts. The way we will open class is by a quick introduction of the teacher. We will then review some common patterns in multiplication such as any number multiplied against one is always going to be that number. We will also discuss how that any number multiplied against zero is always going to be zero. Then, we will start our Jeopardy multiplication game. Students will play the game of Jeopardy and solve each problem. Students can be divided into small teams or can play individually. Then, we will start to play the game and students will write their answers on a piece of paper or a whiteboard. Students will hold their answer up for the teacher to check for correctness. Lastly, we will finish class with some multiplication questions completed individually by each student. Each Student will show their answers to Teacher Tommy. My teaching style is that I like to be positive and bring lots of energy into my lessons. I like to make learning and fun but at the same time ensuring that students are having success. I want my students to enjoy having class with me. I will use technology in my class as a way to present the multiplication problems and the directions of Jeopardy for the class. Experience with solving multiplication facts is not required.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of multiplication facts and be able to state the correct answer.
