Class Experience

In this class, we will create our own multiplication "Cootie Catchers". You might remember making these in grade school. I've transformed them into a fun, multiplication game! By using a document viewer, students will follow my directions when making their own Cootie Catcher through a step-by-step process.
This is a fun little arts and crafts math game.
After we add our multiplication facts, we will play the game!

If I notice that some of the students are having difficulty with number sense, I may pause and use manipulatives to show the students what the amount will look like with tangible items.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their multiplication facts through the process of playing a memorization game.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! Welcome to my class. This is a safe space to explore the academic curriculum through various pedagogy techniques including kinesthetic movement, artistic creativity, and using manipulatives. In other words, HAVING FUN!

Credentials:
BSED (Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education)
ESOL endorsement (English to Speakers of Other Languages)
AA (Associate in Specialized Technology) for Graphic Design.
I have spent the last five years studying and teaching diverse learners in B&M schools. A passion of mine is to help struggling students gain comprehension of the material. It is important to me that the students feel confident and excited to learn. This can be easily accomplished through teaching multi-sensory lessons.

Philosophy: Non-violent communication is the backbone of my teaching style. Some of my inspirations include RIE (Respectful Infant Education), Montessori, Capturing Kids Hearts, and Orton-Gillingham. I believe it is important to challenge students in a fun and creative way that will complement academic goals. Peaceful communication and positive reinforcement encourage student growth. Most of all, learning can be REALLY FUN!

Fun Fact: I am a maker of things! I love making stuff like dolls, clothes, food, books, posters, and more! I tend to paint anything that looks plain to me. I love refurbishing and recycling. I think it is a gift to use what is available in order to create less waste.
