Class Experience

In this thirty minute class, students will participate in multiple rounds of multiplication Bingo. They will come to class prepared with a filled out bingo board, using the numbers on a multiplication chart. To play, I will read a multiplication word problem, students will solve, and mark the answer on their board. Before moving on to the next question, we will share the different strategies used to find our product. The first person to get five in a row wins!

Students should have a basic understanding of multiplication, and be looking to increase their speed or applying the skill to word problems. We will be covering multiplication facts that span from 1X1 to 12X12.
Learning Goals
Students will increase their multiplication fluency and be able to show, and explain, their strategies.

Supply List
Please come to class with at least one prepared Bingo board and an object to mark the spaces (a pile of coins, cereal, marker/crayon, etc.). I will provide a blank Bingo board that can be filled in, or you can draw one on a piece of paper if you do not have a printer. Please note that this does not work like a traditional Bingo board and the numbers can be placed wherever you'd like. We will likely play more than one round so please ensure your board can be used more than once with different colored markers, clearing off the counters, or creating additional boards.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi everybody! I'm currently a third grade math teacher in Maryland, but my favorite part of teaching is making it relatable and fun for the students! I received my BS in Elementary Education from the University of Maryland, College Park and am currently studying back at UMD for my Master's in Minority and Urban Education. Outside of the classroom, I have also taught Hebrew School for 7 years, worked as a counselor and administrator at a sleep-away camp for 6 years, and have over 300 hours of tutoring experience.

A fun fact is that at the age of 22, I taught myself how to solve the Rubik's Cube and then used 225 cubes to make a mosaic of my camp's logo! I like to bring in outside topics, such as books, movies or games to help make the students understand the topic better. You might see some classes working with the Rubik's Cube, Harry Potter, Pokemon, Minecraft, Unicorns, and more! My goal is to make sure that every student knows that they always have someone cheering them on in the background, celebrating every step toward success! I strongly believe that the baby steps along the way are the most important piece.
