Description
Class Experience
This class is taught in English.
By the end of the four weeks, learners should feel confident and prepared to apply and interview for a job.
Before becoming a full-time English teacher, I worked alongside the hiring manager for Darden restaurants. Currently, I sit in most teaching interviews at the high school I teach for, so I have a lot of expertise when it comes to interviewing for the desired job. As an Avid teacher, I help students develop their resumes and prepare for their first job interviews to help them secure their dream position.
Learners will need to create a resume and cover letter. The teacher will provide feedback for possible modifications (if necessary). Also, learners should be prepared to submit a FlipGrid video of themselves answering interview questions. Lastly, learners will need to post via an "email" (on Outschool) a possible follow-up that they would send after an interview. This homework is expected to take about 20 minutes of the outside of class time each week.
The teacher will supply the curriculum and materials. For one of the assignments, learners will be encouraged to dress professionally (as if they were going to a job interview).
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
There are a few third-party tools used during this class. Neither tool will require students to create their own accounts. For Padlet, students will be provided a link to participate in a thread. They will not need to create their own account. For the FlipGrid video, students will be given a Flip Code. They will not need to create their own account. Youtube will be used, but students will not need to create their own accounts. The videos will be integrated into the Outschool platform.
The teacher will host a live lesson each week to go over and discuss each week's topic. Powerpoints, templates, infographics, resources, and more will be provided each week to help guide students. Padlet is used to allow learners to collaborate.
