1 hour per week. Homework will be assigned as practice at times to reinforce difficult skills that were taught and found to be a challenge during the tutoring sessions. I would assign short worksheets (no more than 10 questions). We would go over the answers together in classAssessment
I will conduct a brief end-of-lesson assessment to gauge whether or not the students are grasping the skills being taught, but there will be no formal assessments.Class Experience
US Grade Kindergarten
This course will help students speak, read, and write with confidence and clarity. Understanding language arts concepts is essential for developing good communication skills, which are the cornerstone of success in all disciplines. These lessons provide targeted practice and engaging activities to help students learn capitalization, punctuation, grammar, parts of speech, and other essential ELA skills. Each session will consist of a fun ice-breaker activity, the teaching and presentation of a new ELA skill, student practice (I do, we do, you do), and an end-of-lesson assessment activity. To help keep the classes fun and engaging, I will incorporate brain breaks (5 min) and other educational-related learning games (Boom Learning, Education.com, YouTube, Epic) and activities to enhance the lessons. ***I will be using Google Slides filled with interactive student activities that promote and encourage participation and engagement. Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree in Education from American College of Education
I have had the wonderful privilege of teaching/ tutoring students in the area of phonics (Science of Reading) reading comprehension, ELA, and ESL. I have taught students of all ages, and academic skill levels, both online and in regular classroom settings. I believe that teaching should be fun and memorable. I love the challenge of making reading animated, engaging, and exciting, as it makes students want to learn. Students know when a teacher is passionate about teaching, and that passion influences them to enjoy learning. I have found that positive reinforcement, encouragement, and affirmation really give students the confidence that they need to step out and learn new skills and concepts. I am a life-long learner, and it is my desire to inspire that same passion and curiosity for learning in my students. I look forward to seeing you in my classroom. Additional Education Credentials: I have two Master's degrees through Liberty University in the areas of Counseling/ Human Services and an M.Ed. in Education from the American College of Education.
