Prerequisite: Students should be able to use fine motor skills independently in order to make shapes. Please make sure to check the supply list In this multi-day, class students will sing classic Christmas carols while using chalk, handprints, paint, canvas, craft sticks dot markers, crayons, pom poms, cotton balls, and construction paper. Make sure each learner has colored construction paper. In this teacher, guided process art lesson students will show their artistic abilities. While students are drawing or making their art we will build vocabulary knowledge by discussing colors and shapes. Students will discuss winter weather, seasonal changes, listen to stories while drawing and singing Classic Christmas carols. Shapes can play important roles in the creation of art. They help to create complex drawings and paintings, this is a class perfect for students who love to create and have just learned shapes. This class will build confidence so students will enjoy drawing while learning something new. Our Christmas themed art and crafts will not be complex but it will require each student to be able to cut, glue, and draw independently. Learners will have time for free art as well. Less teacher-directed and more process art.No two snowmen or Christmas trees will look alike and this is ok, we want this class to be fun and build learners' confidence when it comes to drawing. Week one *****Day One Snowman Penguin Students will sing Frosty the Snowman ****Day Two Christmas wreath Christmas Tree Week Two ****Day One Holiday presents Fingerprint lights/Christmas lights ****Day Two Candy Cane Grinch Week Three ****Day One Snowglobe Santa Students will sing Jingle Bells and Santa Clause is coming to Town ****Day two Rudolf Mitten * My teaching style is fun and engaging as I often incorporate singing into my lessons because young learners love to sing, dance and move. This always gives learners a chance to move while still be engaged while learning. I will often use props, slides, and ask students to find these shapes in their home to incorporate real-world learning. Students will draw and make each Holiday themed craft and talk about what shape and colors they used to create their craft.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their winter knowledge, learn holiday facts, and improve knowledge of shapes, colors while improving fine motor skills.
