This math class is a bridge between summertime and core classwork. It allows learners to mature and develop academically at a more manageable pace. 

Learners will be introduced to five frames, ten frames and use both for addition and subtraction. In this class, students will learn the math terms: 
-counting on
-number sentence
-take away


Each lesson will begin with a good morning song, move into introducing each concept by examples. During this time math songs will be learned and learners will increase early math literacy. This will be done by using slides prepared by the teacher and students' active participation. Each lesson will have a skilled tasked worksheet that may require additional supplies such as counting bears, linking cubes, and a whiteboard. The class size will remain small in order to focus on each learner's needs. 
 I believe students learn best through play and hands-on activities, so students will have plenty of time to talk and share ideas when concepts are being introduced. We will enjoy singing teacher-created songs and learning different seasonal facts. 

Week 1: Introduce five frame and five frame addition 
Week  2: Revisit five frame addition and Introduce five frame subtraction 
Week 3: Introduce ten frame and Ten frame addition 
Week 4: Review ten frame addition and Introduce ten frame subtraction 
Week 5:  Ten frames teen Numbers
Week 6: Ten frames teen Numbers Addition
Week 7    Ten frames teen Numbers Subtraction 
week 8:    Review of everything learned (Assessment class) 

Assessments will be completed at the end of the 8th week and I will do my own self-assessment each week. based on the 3 level check.  Once a learner has remembered and completed a skill three times I will mark it as being mastered. We will move at the learner's pace and build on the skills that we learn.
