Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Beginner - Intermediate Level
Welcome to Ms. Rearden's Fortnite Hangout! This class is a one time class, where up to 3 learners and myself play Fortnite and the various game modes that are available. For this class we will share our skills, expertise, and knowledge as we work together to secure Victory Royales and earn XP! Learners will be able to work on communication, team working skills, problem solving, and strategy in various game modes, which they will be able to pick throughout the time period of the class. Together we will work to learn and build upon our skills together, as everyone no matter the skill level, has something to offer. After the completion of a game mode, whether it is Battle Royale, Fortnite Festival, Rocket Racing, Lego Fortnite, or any of the other creative maps, we will reflect on what we did and things that we may be able to do different to make improvements.

Students will need to have a basic knowledge of playing a gaming system (PC, PS4/5, Xbox, or Switch) and the basic controls for Fortnite before joining, as well as have played at least 1 game prior to the class. There will also be a Zoom meeting with the learners and I that needs to be on a separate device from the game. Camera's do need to be on for the Zoom during the duration of the class time. We will be able to vote on the mode that we want to start with and the modes after we finish the first game or match we play.

Heads up: class can go differently based upon the game modes that the learners have voted on and the amount of time taken for each mode. For example, we may be able to fit a couple of Battle Royale matches and a Rocket Racing game. This class is based upon the majority vote by the learners. We will also have discussions based upon what we just played and learners will have the opportunities to ask any questions they may have as we move through the class.
