Class Experience

Welcome to an Introduction to Microsoft Excel.

This is a beginner’s course and aims to give the new spreadsheet user a thorough grounding in the basics of creating and working with spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel. Particular emphasis is placed on developing accurate and well-designed spreadsheets employing sound design and documentation principles.

This course assumes little or no knowledge of spreadsheets or Microsoft Excel. However, it would be beneficial to have a general understanding of personal computers and the operating system environment, especially in regard to working with files and folders, although this is not essential.

Each class will be focused on a particular aspect of using Excel, and we will go through examples together in class. Therefore, the class will be highly interactive and students are encouraged to participate by asking questions and attempting to use the software themselves.

Topics we will cover include:
- Navigating Excel
- Important functions
- Graphs & charts
- Cell referencing

Hello Outschool!

🌟 BACKGROUND 🌟

I come from a homeschooling family and love to give back to the community. I used Saxon Maths as a homeschooler, but am comfortable tutoring any maths curriculum from beginner all the way through advanced maths.

My wife and I were both home educated, and we are now continuing that amazing journey with our own family!

I am originally from Glasgow, Scotland and in my free time I enjoy hiking, martial arts, and cooking.

🌟 EDUCATION 🌟

I am a Chartered Accountant by trade and hold a Bachelors with honours degree and Masters degree in Finance, and have significant teaching experience.

🌟 EXPERIENCE 🌟

I was a lecturer at the University of Strathclyde in Scotland and taught finance classes to 240 undergraduate students.

I have ten years of private tutoring experience, offering one-to-one support from school age students up to the final year at university. I like to make my classes as interactive as possible, openly encourage questions, and bring in examples from the real world.

🌟 MY TEACHING STYLE 🌟

I am passionate about business studies and my philosophy is to have an interactive class as I find this style is effective in helping students' engagement and understanding. Some of the subject matters I teach - Economics, Accounting, Finance, and Maths - get a bad reputation for being boring and dull, but I endeavor to make them anything but that! I will work with your students to ensure they not only understand the material, but also enjoy the class and are able to take the concepts and apply them to their daily life.

🌟 AVAILABILITY 🌟

I have extensive availability, and love working with home educated/ home schooled students around the world - so please reach out if you have any particular needs, or would like to schedule a time that you do not see readily available.
