Class Experience

In this weekly club, students will learn new movie making techniques such as a stop motion skills, how to green screen, or adding special effects. Students will work on their films using learned techniques and share their movies with the class.

Class time will follow the following structure:
1. LEARN-New movie making technique. (15 min.)
2. SHARE- Students may share movie projects from last club sessions learned technique (15 min.)
3. PLAY- Game related to movie making concepts learned in club (10 min.)

Each week students will be able to apply the new technique to their ongoing or new movie project.

I will teach by modeling step by step the process for a movie making skill. Students may ask questions as I go. Next I will review the steps with the class by having students direct me through each step. Finally, the students will have time to practice on their own and I will be there to assist them through the process.

Short clips of G and PG rated films will be shown as an example when teaching specific movie making concepts. For example, when teaching about "Match Cuts" students will view a short 1:30 min. clip of Hook(PG) to see an example of a match cut.

Students do not need prior movie making experience, but will need a video camera such as that found on a cell phone or tablet. Students will want movie editing software such iMovie or an equivalent.
