Montessori Golden Beads Place Value Lessons This 40 minutes Montessori Math Concrete lessons- Golden Beads goal is to provide your child with a strong foundation in mathematics through a combination of hands-on, multi-sensory and interactive concrete approach. This age-appropriate program is tailored to children ages 5 to 9 years old, who is passionate with numbers and interested to further their math skills. In this class, student will explore different variations, extension activities, basic operations and games! The primary objective of the Golden Beads lesson is to provide children with a concrete understanding of the decimal system and place value, allowing them to grasp the concepts of units, tens, hundreds, and thousands through hands-on manipulation of physical materials. By engaging with the golden beads, children will develop the ability to recognize and differentiate quantities, understand the structure of numbers, and practice basic mathematical operations. This lesson fosters a deep, tactile learning experience that lays the foundation for more abstract mathematical thinking in later years. •Montessori Concrete Math- Base Ten• Week 1: Introduction to Golden Beads Week 2: Formation of numerals Week 3: Number composition with beads Week 4: Matching beads to number cards Week 5: Number building with beads Week 6: Place Value Race Week 7: Bank Game Week 8: Bead Exchange Game (regrouping) Week 9: Addition with golden beads (static/without exchange) Week 10: Addition with golden beads (dynamic/with exchange) Week 11: Subtraction with golden beads (static/without exchange) Week 12: Subtraction with golden beads (dynamic/with exchange) • Pre-requisite: I highly recommend that your learner can "write and recognize" number symbols from 0-10 as well as the quantities. • Materials: 1. Physical golden beads set OR printable version 2. Gold dot stickers (1/2") OR Dot paint (orange or gold) 3. Printed learning materials. • Work/Tasks: After the Montessori concrete math presentation, we will work together with the practice worksheets and hands-on activities with manipulative. The older learners will be given some extension work to challenge their math abilities. • Learners materials/equipment: Student needs to have an access to a computer and mouse for our interactive work/activities. • Classroom Policy Montessori classes are mostly "hands-on, highly-visuals, interactive and collaborative", therefore each student who participates in this class will need: -The materials listed above. -Video on/unmuted for the full class • Lesson Outline Montessori Guide Introduction Introduction to the Montessori math material lesson and purpose. Presentation of Montessori math concrete lesson Lesson Activities Review • WHATS NEXT? -An assessment will be provided upon completion of the lessons. -Recommendations for further study and reinforcement at home. -Preparing your child for a seamless transition into more advanced Montessori math work (abstraction) -At the end of this Montessori Concrete Math Lesson, your child will have a deep understanding of mathematical concepts and a strong foundation for continued success in math.
