US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Beginner Level
Do you know how to distinguish between the US coins? Do you know which coin is worth $0.25? Come join me in this ongoing class to learn about the US coins. In this class learners will understand the difference between each coin (Penny, Nickel, Dime, and Quarter), each one has unique characteristics and has a different value. We will use touch points to learn the value of coins and learn how to count coins up to $1.00 in weeks 1-3. Week 4 & 5 we will add coins together up to $2.00. During this class we will use videos, PowerPoints, games and discussions to learn the difference between all coins. We will be 'purchasing' different items on the screen and the student will need to identify the different coins values to see if they can purchase the coins. Week of May 26th: The Penny and its value Week of June 2nd : The Nickel and its value up to $1.00 Week June 9th: The Dime and its value up to $1.00 Week June 16th: The Quarter and its value up to $2.00 Week June 23rd: Adding all coins together up to $2.00

Teacher expertise and credentials
Welcome! I live in Virginia with my two precious boys Ashton, and Carson and a beloved partner of 17 years; Jeremy. I enjoy traveling, spending time with my kids, learning new things, and I especially enjoy teaching. Teaching has always been a dream of mine and I continue to find different enlightening avenues to fulfill this dream.
I have a Bachelor of Liberal Arts with a concentration in Elementary Education, Associates of Arts & Science, and a certificate in Surgical Technology.
I am a licensed teacher and taught 2nd grade for three years and will be teaching third grade this coming year.
I have experience in teaching students to read, write, and math skills.
I started my career as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant), I then received my certificate in Surgical Technology (CST) and worked in the operating room for 5 years. Then I taught the clinical/lab portion of the Surgical Technology program at the community college level. I worked for a short time in a daycare/preschool setting teaching ages 3-5, which lead me to becoming a Special Education Teacher Assistant in an elementary school, teaching children from kindergarten to fifth grade, this position pathed the way for my current job as a public educator. I volunteered with the local Girl Scouts, for about 5 years, as a troop leader for girls ages 5-18.
I am hoping to teach a diverse group of classes touching on different areas of my expertise and career paths. I enjoy being in the classroom and working with all children, Outschool is just a different version of that classroom and I look forward to working with your child(ren) and enjoying a class(es) together here on Outschool.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or would like to request a class time/topic.
