Week 1Lesson 1Introduction, Overview, and Opportunity CostWe will review the course goals, introduce the broad concepts of Financial Literacy, and address the "why" of being financially literate. We will also look at the key idea of "opportunity cost" and how it's understanding plays a key role in being financially successfulWeek 2Lesson 2Getting a Job and Earning MoneyThis class covers the importance of getting a job. This lesson will look at the "why" as it relates to the being financially literacy, as well as the "how" with respect to the process. Full support and "how to" is provided in the associated skill packet.Week 3Lesson 3Budgeting and TrackingClass will cover budgeting as a key concept to becoming financially literate, and develop skills to track cashflow, set spending targets, and organize data.Week 4Lesson 4Banks, Savings Accounts, and Checking AccountsThis lesson will discuss how banks work, what services they offer in relation to savings, and how students can use these tools to support their goals.Week 5Lesson 5Credit Cards vs. Debit CardsThis lesson will cover how credit cards work, the pros and cons of using credit cards, as well as how they compare to debit cards (because they are very different, but look the same).Week 6Lesson 6Credit ScoresThis lesson will define credit scores, inform students about how these scores are calculated, and then provide best practices to positively impact ones credit score.Week 7Lesson 7LoansStudents will learn about key loan concepts as well as major loan types such as student, auto, and home loans. The skills packet provides application practice to allow students to practice their decision making.Week 8Lesson 8InsuranceThis lesson will teach key insurance related vocabulary and concepts, provide examples of common types of insurance (property, auto, and health) then provide students will practice application in the accompanying skills packet.Week 9Lesson 9TaxationStudents will learn about the broad idea of taxation, who, what, and why. We will discuss major taxation types such as income and sales, and taxation type impact so students can have informed discussions about their personal finances.Week 10Lesson 10Financial Investing: Statistics and DataStudents will learn about how to "put their money to work" via the purchase of financial assets like stocks, bonds, and ETFs. They will learn key financial statistics and one way to analyze stocks via "fundamental" investing strategies (focusing on the profitability of companies)Week 11Lesson 11Financial Investing: Strategy and Risk ThresholdWe will discuss how to identify student "risk" thresholds, establish a plan before investing, and tools so that students can apply their investing knowledgeWeek 12Lesson 12Entrepreneurship BasicsThis bonus lesson will provide students with insight regarding how entrepreneurial skill (ie: business) can help them accelerate their earnings and thus this entire process of becoming financially successful.

- Students will be able to understand the role banks play in their financial lives, and how to employ tools like savings and checking accounts.
- Students will be able to explain how their spending choices relate to credit cards and their credit scores.
- Students will be able to define key insurance and loan vocabulary and recognize its application across different financial products.
- Students will be able to understand and identify key metrics for financial investing, such as price, P/E ratio, Beta values, and personal risk profiles.
