This course will focus on the magnificent Monarch butterfly. Students will learn about their life cycle, their important job as pollinators, and their incredible migration. This interactive class will allow students to ask questions and participate in the lesson with the teacher and other students through games and discussion. The lesson will include photos, video clips, slides, and opportunities for students to provide input about their learning. I love to make learning fun and engaging and share my own experiences, in this case as someone who has created a Monarch Waystation.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to:
- explain the role of butterflies in pollination
- describe the butterfly life cycle
- explain migration
- provide examples of how to help the Monarch butterfly population

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been an elementary school teacher and librarian for over 20 years. I love reading books for all ages and helping kids find a love of reading and learning about all kinds of topics. One of my favorite things is participating in and leading book clubs, as I love to talk about books.
I also love nature and animals, especially insects like butterflies and bees. I'm a beekeeper and chicken owner. I love traveling, especially to national parks, with my family. I have been to all 50 states! I look forward to reading and learning with you.
