What's included

30 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
If you have budding artist learners looking to explore their individual creativity, this class might be for you! Modelling the Masters is an ONGOING live weekly class that introduces young learners from 8-12 yrs to famous artists from history. We begin with an art history discussion about a specific artist, their approach, and style. Then, we spend the rest of class creating our own artwork inspired by that artist while enjoying casual social time. With a new artist each week (over 30 different lessons in total), your learner is encouraged to grow their own unique voice as an artist. Classes are 30 minutes and we spend the first 10-12 minutes learning, and the remaining time creating. Learners are not required to finish within the allotted time, but are encouraged to share their creations and ideas with the class. Some art styles we discuss and look at are: abstraction, cubism, impressionism, post-impressionism, pointillism, gestural painting, pop art, realism, and more. Each class will be different and I aim to not duplicate content for learners (I keep track), so each week will be decided based on which learners are enrolled. There is no set schedule for this class’s content. The class will usually run for a minimum of 10-12 weeks, up to 30+ weeks with many times available. Students may use any medium they would like to participate in creating their own artwork. Artistic freedom is celebrated in my classroom, and there is no right or wrong way to express one-self. There will be no grading, but participation will be celebrated and encouraged. No prior experience is necessary as the goal is exploration not perfection. What this class is not: This is not a copy the teacher class We do not focus on technical instruction (it’s more about ideas) (Can't find a time that works? Check out my flexible version of this class on my class listing page.)
Learning Goals
Students will learn about master artists from history in various genres of painting/drawing. They should be able to recognize a new style of artwork with each class and gain knowledge about specific master artists. Self expression is encouraged.
