PLEASE BE AWARE THERE IS A BUG WITH OUTSCHOOL AND MY ACCOUNT. IF YOU SAVE THIS CLASS, YOU WILL NOT BE NOTIFIED WHEN NEW SECTIONS ARE ADDED. PLEASE SEND ME A SCHEDULE REQUEST, SO I CAN UPDATE YOU ON NEW CLASS TIMES. Moana and Maui are eager to tell everyone about their culture and history! Class 1: Maui may claim we have him to thank for everything, but that is not the truth! Learn about the mythology of the Polynesian islands and find out what a tiki is (hint, it is not a cup). Class 2: Now that Moana has successfully sailed to Te Fiti, Moana is ready to share her secrets of how to navigate by the stars. It will then be your turn to create your own boat! Class 3: Maui is very proud of his tattoos and they are an important part of his culture. Learn about the history and meaning of tattoos in the Polynesian culture and design your own. Class 4: After her long voyage, it is time for Moana to make some new clothes. Learn about traditional tapa clothes and create your own. Class 5: Moana and Maui love to move and dance. Join them as they teach you the hula and haka!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello!
Welcome to Outschool! My name is Carly and I am very excited to have the opportunity to teach your child.
I received my Masters in Elementary Education from Truman State University in 2013. Due to my love of travel, my teaching experiences have been very varied. In the five years since graduating, I have taught kindergarten through third grade at the Escola Americana in Brazil, preschool at the Yoyogi International School in Tokyo, and second grade at the Canadian International school in India. I am currently teaching English online with VIPKid to students across the globe. These experiences have helped shape me into the teacher I am today; patient, flexible, adaptable, inventive, caring, and friendly.
I believe the classroom should be a warm and welcoming place where students feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and making mistakes.
I hope to see you soon!
