Class Experience

OUR CLASS
This FLEX class takes place asynchronously, with no live meetings. Each Monday videos, supplies, and assignments will be posted to get you through the week’s material. Every two weeks we will add 10-20 new words to our Latin Vocabulary List.

The story of Minimus takes place in Vindolanda in Roman Britain. Our classes feature original footage from countless Roman Britain archaeological sights such as: Vindolanda, Chichester, London, Cheltenham, Bath, Chester & more. Let me be your tour guide, as we bring the Roman Empire to life with interactive presentations, and personal tours through these beautiful sites.

⭐️ Students will take a picture of their assignment to upload to the classroom after completing
⭐️ Students will be asked to respond to the discussion questions that will be posted in the classroom
⭐️ Each chapter has two Kahoot quizzes that reviews the vocabulary, grammar, and culture questions
⭐️ Two weeks are assigned to each chapter to allow students to fully comprehend the material, without rushing
⭐️ I will introduce your little people to BIG words, and how to use them! Such as: Pugnacious, Ludicrous, Diligent, Circumference

CULTURE
Students will learn about Roman Culture through the life of a family who lived in Roman Britain. Minimus is a great way to prepare for the National Latin Exam. We will also discover famous myths and mythical characters such as Midas, Pandora, Perseus and Medusa

GRASP THE GRAMMAR
English is one of the most difficult languages to use to learn grammar. Learning Latin will immensely help young learners to understand the parts of speech such as nouns & adjectives and how to identify them in written works in both Latin and English.

WEEK ONE OF EACH CHAPTER
In week one of our exploration of the chapter, we will review the prior week’s vocabulary, read stories in Latin and learn about the grammar. We will also learn about Vindolanda, Eboracum - the Roman towns where our family lived - and more!

WEEK TWO OF EACH CHAPTER
In week two of our exploration of the chapter, we will review the vocabulary from that chapter, read stories in Latin, and explore the culture through Roman Mythology, as well as footage that I have personally shot that shows the communities in which Flavia and Iulius lived. This helps bring the material to life!
Learning Goals
The goal is for students to develop a love of learning Latin and Roman culture. Will learn approximately 40 words in Latin, develop a better understanding of grammar and parts of speech, and learn Latin roots of English words.

🤩 I have been teaching Latin for over 10 years to homeschoolers around the world!

🤩 I believe Latin enriches lives and makes learning languages more accessible to learners of all ages.

🤩 I have spent the last year fully developing this course by traveling all over Britain, visiting Roman sites, and filming original footage specifically for this course.

🤩 In May of 2024 I will participate in a special 2 week long archaeological dig at Vindolanda, uncovering the secrets that were left behind by the Ancient Romans and filming more special and amazing footage for this class!
