Hello! I am Julie Johnson and I love teaching children of all ages! I enjoy incorporating arts and crafts, games, and  hands-on activities in my Language Arts, Natural Science, and Craft classes.  I like introducing fun props and teaching aids to enhance learning and prompt class discussion. By integrating science, literature, and art, students combine critical thinking skills with creativity. I think children learn best when teachers foster a creative environment  while engaging in new material.
 
 I am a mother of three home school graduates. I have over 20 years of teaching experience from Preschool to High School, including 3 years of online teaching. My diverse experience includes: ESL Online tutor, Preschool teacher, Sunday School and VBS coordinator, Driver’s Education instructor, English Grammar and Greek teacher, Biology Dissection and Botany teacher, Logic, World History and Literature teacher, and Fiber Art Co-op teacher. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature from Northwest University and TESOL certification. I am also a certified Project Learning Tree Pre-K-8th grade educator and enjoy incorporating environmental literacy in my courses.

 A favorite quote of mine by Plutarch is, “ The mind is not a vessel to be filled but a fire to be kindled.” I strive to ignite creativity in my learners while building confidence and good comprehension skills of the subject they are learning. When I am not teaching, you will find me on a hike in the Blue Ridge Mountains with my family, in my garden, reading, or learning a new craft!
