Class Experience

In this weekly class, students will learn/review a new math concept each week and then spend the rest of class practicing that math skill, along with other math skills! This class is perfect for your young learner who loves Minecraft! Each math question will be Minecraft themed! I will also throw in some fun Minecraft questions throughout class that allow students to interact with each other and share their thoughts!

This class is designed for Pre-K (preschool) and Kindergarten learners. No prior experience with Minecraft or math concepts is required for this class, as I will be teaching/reviewing the math skills at the beginning of each class.

We will use both Kahoot and Zoom during this lesson. Kahoot is a free website (Kahoot.it) that will allow students to answer questions in a fun, interactive way! Students may also download the free app to use, but this is not necessary because the free website (Kahoot.it) works the same way.

Students will need to have a separate device (ex. cell phone, iPad, laptop) that is just for Kahoot. I will post the Kahoot game pin, as well as directions for how to log in, to the Outschool classroom a few minutes before class starts. Students should be logged into Kahoot at the start of class. Being logged into Kahoot at the start of class will allow us to focus on our learning and be able to finish our game.

***If students do not have a second device, they can print out the PDF answer choices that are available upon enrollment. If students choose to use the PDF document, be sure to print it out and cut into 4 pieces before class so students can easily hold up their answers.***

After class, students will be given the Kahoot game link played in class so they can practice the skills learned that day in class!

Each week will have a different combination of questions with different skills/concepts reviewed :)

I was a 2nd grade teacher for 3 years and taught all subject areas, including math. My students LOVED Minecraft, so I enjoyed incorporating Minecraft into my classroom when I had the opportunity. I find that students learn best when the topic is of interest to them.

I have tutored elementary, middle school, and high school students for over 10 years. In addition, I have taught summer school for the past 3 years and taught English online. I am certified to teach all content areas through 6th grade. I have my Special Education and ESL certifications through 12th grade.
