Mindfulness is a practice anyone and everyone can benefit from. It brings you back to the here and now, eases anxiety, recenters your mind, and prepares you for upcoming tasks. Journaling helps learners process current events and social situations, and inspires creativity. In this ongoing class, students will practice mindfulness and journaling to start their day out right. Each class will follow the format: -Introductions -Mindfulness activity -Journaling with teacher provided prompt My teaching style has been described by Outschool parents as calm, patient, adaptive, engaging, and organized. I believe that in all instances mental health must come before academics. No one can learn or retain information while in a state of anxiety or upset. This class will provide students with calmess and mindfulness before they begin their day. Skills will be taught that students can use throughout the day.

Teacher expertise and credentials
As a special education teacher, many of my students deal with anxiety, depression, and ADHD. I found that by including mindfulness, journaling, and providing a safe space for students, they were able to be more successful with their learning. I myself deal with anxiety and ADHD and practice mindfulness throughout the day.
