During this circle time, young students will be engaged with mindfulness activities. The class is appropriate for students age 3-6 with and without disabilities. Drops ins are welcome! Circle Times will each follow the same format: -Expectations and Introductions -Ringing bells to start mindfulness time -A movement based greeting game for friends to meet -A simple breathing song to become present -A weekly "big idea" vocabulary word (For example, kindness) -Discussion and exploration of word and how to use it ( For example, how to be kind to others, who is kind) -A game or song to fully learn this new skill -A interactive story using movement, puppets or games - A review, sharing and an emotional check in -A goodbye dance Setting the mood and meeting our friends is so important so we will greet each other, ring our mindful bells. A simple mindful song will be taught to students and sung with them. We will discuss a new vocabulary word regarding mindfulness and social emotional skills such as "kindness," "listening," or "emotions." We will explore this through interactions, pictures, puppets and movement activities like yoga. We will use a story to further explore this concept. We will close with an emotional check in and sharing about our experience. We dance our way out of class to get out wiggles out! This class is extremely interactive and students will be social with their new friends and the teacher. This class meets one time a week and is truly meant to help little learners with: -making friends -emotional identification and awareness -emotional strategies for regulation and tantrums -compassion and kindness to others -body regulation and control -basic social skills -age appropriate meditation or yoga Please introduce your little one to the mute button. Students are encouraged to stay unmuted and participate frequently. As we are on zoom, background noise or echoes may affect other learners and result in the teacher muting them. Please teach them how to unmute so they can keep communication. **If you are worried about your child's regulation skills and feel as if a class may be hard, this is the class for them to try!
