Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 8
Each class is divided into three parts: presentation, practice, and production. In the presentation stage, the teacher will present the material, and then the student will practice by doing, with guidance from the teacher. In the last stage, the student will apply what they have learned independently and get feedback from the teacher and other students. We will write short informational texts and discuss strategies to improve those texts and edit our own writing. Each week, we will have a writing assignment, and I will give personalized feedback to the student.
The following are the weekly topics:
Week 1 - Types of Texts
Week 2 - Writing Strategy 1: Brainstorming
Week 3 - Writing Strategy 2: Writing paragraphs
Week 4 - Writing Strategy 3: Writing introductions
Week 5 - Writing Strategy 4: Writing thesis statements
Week 6 - Writing Strategy 5: Writing the conclusion
Week 7 - Writing Strategy 6: Making an outline
Week 8: Review
Based on the needs of the students, we might spend more/less time on certain topics. Students will participate in interactive activities and games to review the concepts we learn in class.
Looking forward to seeing your learner in class! Get ready for writing!

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been teaching English to native and nonnative speakers for over 20 years in the US and abroad. My approach is called "Focus-on-Form", which means my classes are very communicative and interactive in nature, but we still focus on grammar, pronunciation, or vocabulary. The most important aspect of my class for me is to provide a comfortable and enjoyable environment for the students and develop affection towards learning English in my students.

On a more personal note, I live in San Diego, California, with my fifteen-year-old daughter, our two dogs, and a cat. We love the outdoors, and we frequently explore our beautiful parks and beaches.
