Class Experience

In this 6 week course, students will read and analyze two novels. The first novel is assigned by me, and the second is picked by students.

The first 3 weeks:

Novel- Fahrenheit 451.
During class, we will discuss important literary elements within the novel, as well as the chapters that were read (for homework). Students will be assigned classwork + homework that will help with their reading comprehension and writing.

The second 3 weeks:
Students will choose a new novel together. I like to give students an opportunity to read something that they are interested in, so I let them make suggestions and vote. I will reach out to parents prior to choosing a book, and make sure it is acceptable and approved by all. Once a new novel is picked, we will continue to read on our own, and discuss during class. Classwork and homework will be assigned just as it was the first 3 weeks.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
Welcome, my name is Ms. Dee and I hope to have you in one of my classes! I have been teaching for over 7 years, and I have a bachelor's degree in Communications, from the University of Florida. I have taught every age range from preschool to high school. One of my favorite things about teaching is exploring subjects from not only my perspective as an educator but from the perspective of my students. I believe that education should be exciting to students, it should serve as a basis to guide their ideas and creativity to new heights. I pride myself on being the "fun" teacher because it has always proved to make the biggest difference with my students. I hope to bring a little magic into my student's day, every day!
