Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 12
Beginner - Intermediate Level
In my tutoring sessions, we first set goals. With clear goals, we can work together to meet these goals.

My tutoring sessions can include any or all of the following:
- Help with homework
- Review of topics covered in class
- Enrichment

Topics covered can include:
- Arithmetic skills, including number types, fractions, counting, and patterns
- Exploring equations, including solving simple 1 and 2 step equations, and discovering multiple ways to solve the same problem
- Orders of operations, including parenthesis and powers
- Basic geometry, including classifying figures, calculating area and perimeter, exploring special properties of triangles and circles, and exploring congruent and similar figures
- Probability, including equivalent ratios and percentages
- Word Problems covering any or all of these topics

I can also provide enrichment for those wanting a more in-depth math experience with:
- Math Practice
- Math Projects!

When you need help with homework, simply bring your homework to our session. We will work the problems out together on the whiteboard. If you do not understand what the teacher taught in class, bring it to tutoring and we will break it down together.

I encourage all my students to have a notebook and pencil beside them during tutoring. Writing things down helps us remember concepts we learn! FYI - It is easier to have a touch screen when working out problems, but it is not impossible.

If you want a more challenging math experience than your teacher can provide, you've got it! I can guide you through practice problems, and assign extra practice through Khan Academy, or we could do math projects together! Math projects take on real-world problems and solve them using math concepts. Math projects are designed to relate to your interests and can include working with real-world data graphs, analyzing angles in sports, or calculating areas for art projects! I am willing to dive into your favorites and pull out math concepts about the topics you love.

Some super sweet stuff my students and their parents have said about me...

"She made it easy to understand."

"Christine is the best! She seems to really enjoy tutoring. I can't even begin to tell you how thankful I am for her."

"My daughter and I would be lost without Christine. She's simply wonderful!"

Teacher expertise and credentials
As a math enthusiast with an engineering background, I love bringing real-life examples to math's abstract concepts. I can answer the question, "When am I ever going to use this?" The truth is we use math every day by just by moving! Math helps us understand our world and helps us predict what might happen next. :) I hope to help your student love learning through easy-to-understand explanations and relatable examples.
