Homework
1 hour per week. My goal for each tutoring session is to support your learner in ways that work best for their learning style and needs; therefore, our most effective Math experiences will occur during our live sessions! However, if you wish for your child to continue practicing our tutoring skills between sessions, I would be happy to provide optional written or virtual practice options as homework if requested by the parent/guardian.Assessment
As an alternative to a progress report, the parent/guardian may also request skill-based readiness assessments to be completed during tutoring at any point to determine your learner's readiness for a particular skill, progress throughout their current curriculum, or cumulative assessment practice to determine end-of-year course mastery.Progress Report
During our sessions, we will utilize a variety of virtual learning tools which will provide continuous feedback of your learner's progress in real time. As their tutor, I will continue to keep a record of their continued progress on each of the virtual tools we use, and the parent/guardian may also request a progress report of these skills and scores at any time.Class Experience
US Grade 6 - 9
Beginner - Advanced Level
❕Note: This private tutoring experience is offered exclusively during the school year - September through May. Need extra Math support or hope to skill build throughout the summer? Check out my group course: "(Summer) Middle School Math Skill Building - Summer Growth Group!" _____________________________________________________ Let's help your child grow as a logical thinker, master current or new 6th, 7th, 8th, or 9th Grade Math skills, and support their confidence as a mathematician along the way! Throughout this 30-minute one-to-one private tutoring experience, your learner will receive individualized support from Ms. Ashley during each session in a way that best fits their strengths, needs, and current learning level or style as well as their short or long term math goals set by themselves, you, or their current math teacher. 🏆Ms. Ashley’s goals throughout tutoring are to (a) provide your learner with a variety of engaging, interactive learning tools and practice sets to support their understanding of current and new math concepts, (b) share multiple representations and additional reteach explanations of skills that they may need extra support with, (c) use a variety of flexible solving methods to show them multiple ways to achieve logical answers, and (d) constantly encourage their confidence and growth as a learner! Although this class can be booked both as a one-time meeting or an ongoing recurring session, learners who meet with Ms. Ashley regularly will also experience frequent spiral reviews of previously practiced skills as an important tool to continue building knowledge and revisiting related skills even while learning new ones. _____________________________________________________ 📑During each tutoring session, your learner will participate in the following learning activities with the support of Ms. Ashley along the way. Each activity will be tailored to meet your learner’s specific goals and will also be aligned to their current grade level math curriculum. I encourage parents, guardians, or even students themselves to send me a message prior to our first session together including your first name, grade level, and any learner details, needs, or tutoring goals you would like me to know prior to our upcoming meetings. ☑️(Tutoring Activity 1) "Homework Help, Skill Reteach, or Assessment Review" - Ms. Ashley will always offer designated time at the beginning of each session to provide individualized, specific help with current math homework, classwork assignments, or assessment reviews assigned by your child’s own classroom teacher. If no specific assignment help is needed, then your child will also be given the opportunity to complete a reteach lesson with Ms. Ashley over any mathematics skill, topic, or standard of their choice that they are currently learning or have previously learned from their own classroom teacher but could benefit from revisiting the material with extra support (*upon student or parent request). In preparation for each tutoring session, please send the homework assignment or reteach topic to Ms. Ashley at least one hour prior to our session if possible. Otherwise, it will be requested at the start of the session. ☑️(Tutoring Activity 2) "Let's Learn Something New! Grade Level Curriculum Practice" - If time in the session remains, Ms. Ashley will provide a selection of additional learning activities, games, and/or practice sets tailored to the grade level curriculum and learning needs of your child in alignment with their school curriculum skills. These extra practice activities will be used either to support your child with previously learned skills that could use additional practice and/or to propel your child into new learning experiences with skills they have not yet seen but that are also aligned to their current grade level. This extra practice could include skills from any of your child’s previous, current, or upcoming middle school math units based on their current mastery and learning goals. Below you will find a summarized list of potential skills your child may work on with Ms. Ashley throughout the school year during this "Let's Learn Something New!" practice time: 📚The Number System Types of Numbers and the Number Line Positive and Negative Numbers Absolute Value Comparing Rational & Irrational Numbers** Factors and Greatest Common Factor Multiples and Least Common Multiple Multiplying and Dividing Fractions Multiplying and Dividing Decimals Adding and Subtracting Positive and Negative Numbers Multiplying and Dividing Positive and Negative Numbers Inequalities 📚Ratios, Proportions, & Percentages Ratios, Unit Rate, and Unit Price Proportions Percentages & Percent Word Problems Calculating Sales Tax, Discounts, and Markups Percent Rate of Change Tables and Ratios 📚Expressions, Equations, & Functions Expressions & Like Terms Properties of Operations Exponents Order of Operations Scientific Notation** Square and Cube Roots** Equations Solving for Variables Solving Multistep Equations** Solving and Graphing Inequalities Word Problems with Equations and Inequalities** The Coordinate Plane Relations, Lines, and Functions** Slope & Linear Equations** Proportional Relationships and Graphs Nonlinear Functions** 📚Geometry Geometry Basics Quadrilaterals, Triangles, and Area The Pythagorean Theorem** Circles, Circumference, and Area Three-Dimensional Figures and Cross Sections Volume Surface Area Angles, Triangles, and Transversal Lines Similar Figures and Scale Drawings Polygons and the Coordinate Plane Translations and Reflections** Rotations and Dilations** 📚Statistics & Probability Statistics Basics Calculating Median, Mode, and Range Calculating Mean (Average) Line Plots Bar Graphs & Histograms Box and Whisker Plots Scatter Plots** Two-Way Tables** Probability (**) Concepts followed by this symbol represent skills reserved for 8th Grade and 9th Grade students only, unless younger students indicate enrichment readiness.
