In this ongoing book club learners will meet to discuss classic and contemporary books! Classics are those books that readers love to share, reread, and always remember. These books compel thinking, relating, and great discussions! Learners are encouraged to join the conversation but are not required. I strive to create a safe and relaxed space for my learners. Learners will read and discuss characters, themes, plot, figurative language, and more! I adore literature and feel it is invaluable for learners to gain knowledge, feel understood, and sometimes just escape. The books we will read teach readers that they are not alone through the universal themes of family, friendship, loyalty, courage, and empathy. I will provide discussion questions in the classroom to help learners prepare for the meeting. Supplemental activities will also be posted in the classroom for learners. Learners will also play a fun interactive Kahoot! at the end of class to check for comprehension. Please message me if you'd like more information or don't see a time that fits your schedule. I hope to see your learner in the book club! 2 pm EST/Tuesdays October 29th- Nov. 12th The War I Finally Won by Kimberly Bradley Week ofOctober 29-The War I Finally Won by Kimberly Bradley chapters 1-15 Week of November 5th - The War I Finally Won by Kimberly Bradley chapters 16-29 Week of November 12th The War I Finally Won by Kimberly Bradley chapters 30-46 Week of November 19th- The Book Thief Part 1 Week of November 19th- The Book Thief Part 2 & 3 Week of December 3rd- The Book Thief Part 4 Week of December 10th- The Book Thief Part 5 Week of December 17th- The Book Thief Part 6 Week of December 24th- The Book Thief Part 7 Week of December31st- The Book Thief Part 8 Week of January 7th The Book Thief Part 9 Week of January 14th- The Book Thief Part 10 & Epilogue 7pm EST /Thursdays October 31st- Nov. 15th The War I Finally Won by Kimberly Bradley Week October 31-The War I Finally Won by Kimberly Bradley chapters 1-15 Week of November 7th - he War I Finally Won by Kimberly Bradley chapters 16-29 Week of November 14thth he War I Finally Won by Kimberly Bradley chapters 30-46 The Book Thief Week of November 28st- The Book Thief Part 1 Week of December 3rd- The Book Thief Part 2&3 Week of December 10th- The Book Thief Part 4 Week of December 17th- The Book Thief Part 5 Week of December 24th- The Book Thief Part 6 Week of December 31st- The Book Thief Part 7 Week of January 7th- The Book Thief Part 8 Week of January 14th The Book Thief Part 9 Week of January 21st- The Book Thief Part 10 & Epilogue

Please note sensitive material: In Anne of Green Gables, Anne mistook a bottle of currant wine for cordial, which led to Diana becoming hopelessly drunk. Anne of Green Gables includes themes related to racism, stereotypes, and inaccurate descriptions of Natives. This will be addressed by discussing that this is no longer acceptable or tolerated by most. Unfortunately, it was more accepted in the past due to ignorance and the wrong people being in positions of power or authority.
In My Side of the Mountain: Hunters track and shoot deer near Sam's mountain home. Sam traps animals and butchers them for food and/or skins them for clothing or other necessities. Sam also catches fish and turtles to eat, and his trained falcon helps him catch small game (such as rabbits). All of this is described matter-of-factly, with no sentiment or gore, but learners might be upset by the deer killing and skinning.
Learners will participate in a game of Kahoot each week at their leisure. The Kahoot! Link will be posted in the classroom each week. You do not need an account to play.
1. Learner will click the link.
2. Enter a nickname or name and press go!
3. Read questions and select the correct answer or answers and click submit.
Have Fun! Please let me know if you have any further questions.

As a licensed teacher specializing in Reading, I have had the opportunity to support and engage students with diverse learning needs. My experience has enabled me to develop a strong understanding of different instructional strategies to ensure that all students have the skills necessary for academic success. I am passionate about creating a positive classroom environment that is both supportive and engaging, where students feel comfortable sharing their ideas and participating in discussions. With my expertise in Reading instruction, I strive to help each student develop a lifelong love for reading while achieving academic goals.
My passion is literature. I believe stories make concepts more palpable to children. Stories can teach readers valuable lessons, make them laugh, and see things from a different perspective, or take them somewhere new!
When I have time, I like to travel, experience different cultures, and learn the history of people and places. I am also an animal lover! I have two dogs, have worked with animal rescues, and fostered cats and dogs for years.
If you are interested in a class and don't see a time that meets your needs, please send me with your time request. I look forward to meeting your learner in class!
