US Grade 2 - 5
This is a fun book club especially for girls, age seven to twelve! Learners will read an assigned chapter of the book in their free time before class. We will then meet together once a week for four weeks to discuss it. Learners will answer questions, give their personal opinions, discuss events of the chapter read, talk about their favorite parts, and more! Learners can feel free to bring their favorite American Girl doll to class with them, even if it's not Kit! Learners will have an opportunity to share their doll and their favorite thing about her! In this multi-day book club, we will meet once per week to discuss a chapter of the American Girl book, Meet Kit. Each week, we will dive into one chapter of the book and discuss the setting, plot, characters, and other literary elements. I will also ask learners what they like best about the story and their overall opinion of the story. This is a great opportunity for learners to share their opinions and practice their communication skills. They will also get to discuss something they enjoy with others that also do! We will discuss the historical background of each story as well. We will look into the time period of the Great Depression and discuss different historical facts from the story. This information will be displayed through a slideshow presentation. This is a great book club for those who love reading and love to share the love of reading with others. It's also a fun place to discuss anything and everything related to American Girl! Not only will we discuss important aspects of reading, literature, and history, but we will also have fun! I hope to see you in this fun class! ** Class Schedule ** Week 1 Chapter 1: Good News Week 2 Chapter 2: Read All About It Week 3 Chapter 3: It's Not Fair Week 4 Chapter 4: Mother's Brainstorm

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have experience working with children of all ages, teaching, and making lesson plans. I have a B.S. in Elementary Education with an English minor from Pensacola Christian College in Pensacola, FL (2015). After graduating, I taught full time in first grade and K4 for two years at Pensacola Christian Academy in Pensacola, Florida, where I taught all subjects. This school has a specialized focus on early reading and phonics, so I have strong experience in those areas. I then taught ESL online for over four years. I have also been homeschooling my preschool-age daughter for the last two years. I love teaching and working with students of all ages, and I am excited to be an Outschool teacher! I am passionate about helping young students excel in reading, phonics, and grammar. I am interested in teaching elementary-age children, especially ages 5-7. I have experience teaching early reading and phonics, as well as grammar. I believe that reading is the gateway to all learning and want to give young students a strong foundation, which will help them in all areas of their lives. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy reading, crocheting, playing the piano, and drinking coffee!
