Week 1Lesson 1Maya Angelou - Renaissance WomanIn this class, we will read a passage about Maya Angelou and complete several activities to check comprehension.
Students will practice reading a non-fiction passage and complete activities to show understanding.
While this lesson focuses on reading comprehension, I will also include an audio version of the passage for English language learners or those students who need extra support with their reading.
No prior knowledge is necessary. Students should be reading at about a 3rd grade level.
Students may choose to print the reading passage for easier access.
This class uses a reading comprehension passage that I created using basic biographical knowledge about the individual. I used Wikipedia, https://www.mayaangelou.com/, and her autobiography I Know Why a Caged Bird Sings as sources.
