The puzzles will provide students the opportunity to check their work. However, if there are questions, or any feedback is desired, the student is welcome to send work- my responses will typically be given within 24 hours.Class Experience
US Grade 1 - 4
Students will complete a variety of activities which will strengthen their skills with basic math facts. Each activity will have a decoder puzzle that students will need to solve- having the scrambled answers with the puzzles will allow them to check their work as they move through the lesson. Clear sets of directions will be provided with each activity along with examples for students to follow. The estimated completion time should be 4 weeks; however, time can be extended if needed. I will be available to answer questions and provide instructional support if necessary. The student does NOT need prior experience with solving decoders- instructions for how to solve each puzzle will be provided. There should be a basic understanding of how to add, subtract, multiply and divide with whole numbers. Upon completing the activities, the student will have gained additional experience with developing problem solving strategies, communicating and collaborating with others, and making algebraic connections which support math proficiency.

Supply List
Ideally, students (or parents) would be able to print the worksheets that come with each lesson so students can write on it. If that's not possible, students can just use paper and pencil in order to work out the problems displayed on the computer screen.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree in Education from University of Maryland, Baltimore County
I LOVE math, and I LOVE puzzles that require critical thinking! I make it a goal to find creative and interesting ways to deliver instruction while helping students build their math sense. This course will allow learners to practice, strengthen and grow at their own pace in a more engaging way than numerous skill and drill worksheets.
